Big Jubilee Picnic

5th June on Redbourn Common

The Parish Council wanted to provide an opportunity for residents to come together and celebrate the Queens' Platinum Jubilee. A working party have been busy developing an event that we hope all will enjoy.

We are holding a Picnic on the Common on Sunday, 5th June 2022. Come along with your picnics and mix with family and friends, neighbours and friends you haven't even made yet to celebrate this event. There will be live music, fun fair rides, team games and a Crown/fancy dress parade. We will be finishing with a 'singalong' and asking residents to suggest a song to be included. The most popular choices will be used. See us on Facebook for more information building up to the event.

The event will begin with a royal fancy dress and crown parade. Calling all Kings and Queens, Princesses and Princes to come along in your regal finery and parade down the avenue of trees on the common. Prizes will be awarded! To join in the parade, meet on the grass outside Cumberland House at 11.45am.

Here's a taster of the timetable of events for the big day:

Afternoon tea will be served in the Methodist church; we also have an ice cream van and the Hollybush will have a 'pop up' bar whilst the Cricketers will be running their BBQ.

It's hoped for those that cannot hold a street party, this will be an opportunity to still socialise with your neighbours – why not get a street team together (a mix of adults and children) for the family team games? Pick your team for the relay race: l lap egg and spoon, 1 lap sack race, 1 lap bean bag balance, last lap 3 legged race. Followed by the tug of war!

The event is being funded by the Parish Council but there will be an opportunity for those that want, to donate some money towards the cost of the event. We look forward to seeing you – we just need the sun to come along too!
