M1 Junction 10 - Traffic Signal Replacement planned

National Highways plan to carry out work to replace the traffic signals around junction 10 of the M1. This will include replacement of the poles and cables. Once complete, drivers will benefit from improved traffic flows around the junction.

To carry out the work safely, it is necessary to close parts of the M1 junction 10, and divert traffic as detailed below:

Diversion 1M1 junction 10 northbound exit slip

Mon 3 to Fri 7 Oct – 10pm to 5am AND
Tues 11 to Fri 14 Oct – 10pm to 5am

Traffic will continue northbound on the M1 to junction 11, exit and return southbound to exit the M1 at junction 10.

Diversion 2

Mon 3 to Fri 7 Oct – 10pm to 5am AND
Tues 11 to Fri 14 Oct – 10pm to 5am

Traffic will continue northbound on the M1 to junction 11, exit and return southbound to exit the M1 at junction 10.M1 junction 10, southern section of roundabout

Monday 3 October to Friday 7 October - 10pm to 5am

Traffic will join the M1 southbound to junction 9, exit and return northbound to exit the M1 at junction 10.

Work is planned to be completed over 2 weeks from Monday 3 October to Friday 14 October. Work will take place overnight between 10pm and 5am on weeknights only, weather conditions permitting.

In addition to these closures, there will also be lane closures on the southern section of the junction 10 roundabout between Monday 3 October and Friday 7 October.

Similar work at junction 8 of the M1 is planned in the near future.
